Director of Procurement job with Clarion Housing Group

SALARY: £116,198 to £137,985 pa plus £8,000 car allowance

JOB LOCATION: More London Place

HOURS: 36 hours per week

CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent

Clarion Housing Group is the country’s largest housing association with 125,000 homes nationwide and annual expenditure in excess of £1bn. First and foremost, we’re a social landlord, providing affordable homes overwhelmingly for people who can’t meet their housing needs on the open market. We’re also a property development company, a charitable foundation and a repairs and maintenance service, and by 2040 Clarion will be the undisputed leading housing group for good quality, fit for purpose, well managed and sustainable affordable homes

To ensure we meet these challenges, we’re looking to appoint a Director of Procurement with significant senior strategic management experience to take responsibility for the planning, design, development and operational delivery of a transformational Procurement strategy across all areas of the Group.

We’ll look to you to design and implement effective procurement and supply processes which maximise the scale and diversity of our buying activity, and to develop a Procurement function which is fit for the future with scope to adapt and grow with the business.

The innovative policies and initiatives you’ll develop will ensure the Group achieves best value for money and realises benefits through the economies of scale generated in the development of the Procurement function.You’ll be required to lead a high-performing, motivated team of professionals with responsibility for delivering an effective, transformational and proactive service.

Other responsibilities include the following;

  • Ensure the financial expenditure of the business is committed in an efficient, effective and compliant manner.
  • Develop effective working relationships with operational managers throughout the Group to ensure they are aware of Group Procurement policy and contract matters, and appreciate the benefits of close collaboration with the Procurement Team.
  • Build on the strength of Contract Management expertise across the Group to ensure we are a strong customer
  • Influence the leadership teams and drive collaborative working
  • Access suitable frameworks and look for opportunities to build our own to leverage commercial advantage

You’ll be a member of CIPS who is qualified to Level 6 Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply and educated to degree level (or equivalent) with a proven track record of successfully leading Procurement services in complex regulated environments.
