DHL Supply Chain company expanding to Whiteland | Local News

A global supply chain distributor is expanding to Whiteland, with plans to bring up to 400 jobs.

Germany-based DHL Supply Chain plans to bring operations to a nearly 980,000-square-foot building in the Whiteland Exchange Business Park on Whiteland Road just west of the Interstate 65 interchange.

The logistics company plans to operate a distribution center at the park, and expects to bring 300 to 400 new jobs to the area, a DHL Supply Chain spokesperson in an email. The company expects the number of jobs to grow over the years as its customer base expands, they added.

Operations are set to start in Whiteland in September 2023.

This would be DHL Supply Chain’s eight distribution facility in Indiana. The company currently operates a facility in Franklin, Indianapolis, Mooresville and Whitestown.

DHL would not disclose how much it plans to invest in the Whiteland location.

Company representatives say the Whiteland location will fill a need for customers. DHL Supply Chain continues to expand in Indiana because of the state’s location within a day’s drive from 80% of the U.S. and Canadian population, and its connected system of highways and port access.

The Whiteland Exchange is a five-building logistics park that started development by Missouri-based Jones Development in late 2019. The park is anchored by Amazon, which hosts a 530,000-square-foot fulfillment center at the front-facing end of the park on Whiteland Road. The park is also home to an Amcor Rigid Plastics facility.
