Despite Predicted ‘Shippageddon,’ COVID-19 Tests Delivered on Time Thanks to Visible Supply Chain Management’s Unique Reseller Relationship with USPS

SALT LAKE CITY–()–Visible Supply Chain Management (Visible), an industry leader in shipping and fulfillment services for small to midsize businesses, partnered with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to make sure 18,000 COVID-19 test kits were shipped and delivered to consumers.

A large logistics provider had a difficult problem. Its shipping capacity was capped at 17K test kits per day by one of the large parcel shipping companies due to current holiday shipping volume — referred to by some as ‘Shippageddon.’ Since the company needed to ship 35K test kits every day, that restriction left it with 18K kits still to ship. To date, the company has shipped more than 49K COVID-19 test kits to consumers and continues to do so for the foreseeable future.

The company contacted its UI technology partner, ShipStore, which then reached out to Visible. Because of Visible’s long relationship with the USPS, and being second only to Amazon as a qualified reseller, the company secured a truck using its favorable Priority Mail rates and delivered the 18K test kits to the consumer. Visible’s unique proprietary technology, including a recently introduced API, helped the customer to utilize a Visible-designed multi-carrier strategy to sustain it through the similar and inevitable shipping challenges to come.

“Whether our customer is an e-commerce retailer or a health service provider, our job is to make sure they are successful in moving their product in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible. Our partnership with the USPS helps us do that,” said Casey Adams, Visible’s president. “We know retailers need security and repeatability in shipping capabilities, so we provide customized recommendations for each unique situation.”

With three quarters (75%) of consumers saying they will do some portion of the holiday shopping online and nearly half (43%) planning to shop exclusively online, the e-commerce growth seen since early in the pandemic is almost certain to continue through the holidays. In fact, major carriers have already reported dramatic increases of 30% demand compared to last year, and that number will surely escalate.
