DC holds meeting to review wheat procurement steps – Latest News – The Nation

Bahawalpur   –   A meeting was held in the committee room of the office under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Irfan Ali Kathia in which the steps taken regarding wheat procurement were reviewed.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Shahid Imran Marth, DFC Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ahmed, Assistant Commissioners from across the district, System Network Administrator Muhammad Azeem Zeeshan and Assistant Food Controllers from across the district were present on the occasion.  He said that all arrangements should be made in a timely manner to achieve the targets of wheat procurement.

Arrangements, supply of clean drinking water and drinking flakes containing information should be displayed and implementation of wheat procurement SOPs should be ensured, he said.

On the occasion, District Food Controller Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ahmed said in a briefing that  the target for procurement of wheat in the district has been fixed at 300,000 tons and this year the price of wheat has been fixed at Rs. 2200 / – per quintal.  He said that 29 wheat procurement centers would be set up across the district where all facilities would be provided to the farmers.

He further said that wheat procurement should be carried out in a very transparent manner.

Pakistan facing environmental pollution

Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Capt. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal in a message on the occasion of World Water Day said that Pakistan, like the rest of the world, is facing environmental pollution, climate change, global warming.

Water pollution and scarcity which are affecting not only economic and social life but also human health, he said. Protect water from being polluted and wasted so that human race can be protected, he added. He said that fire, air and water are important for human life but human beings waste millions of gallons of water every year due to ignorance of their value and that is why human lives are endangered all over the world.   He said that every year on March 22, World Water Day is celebrated in Pakistan as well as all over the world.

He said that the availability of clean water in Pakistan is being affected due to climate change and pollution and the per capita annual availability of water has come down to alarming levels which is alarming for all of us as a society.

In order to increase the storage capacity of water throughout the country, a comprehensive programme has been formulated by the government for the construction of dams and its implementation has been started.

Commissioner Bahawalpur appealed to the people to pollute and waste water.

Support the government to prevent this from happening and realize your responsibility individually and collectively so that future generations  Money can be saved, he stated.
