Operations are “largely running again” for Hellmann Worldwide Logistics following a cyber attack, but a data breach cannot be ruled out.
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics confirmed the cyber attack on December 9, though it was unable to confirm whether any data has been leaked. The company has not named the source of the cyber attack.
In a website update on December 13, the German logistics services company said: “There is still no confirmation that data has been leaked or breached, but we cannot entirely rule it out at this stage, as investigations are not yet completed.”
Hellmann temporarily disconnected connections to its central data centre upon discovery of the attack and has been working with external security specialist in an effort to restore operations.
“Our Global Crisis Taskforce together with external security specialists has made further progress in dealing with the situation. Business operations are largely running again and we are confident that we can eliminate remaining restrictions soon to be operating at full capacity again,” stated the company.
Hellmann offers airfreight, seafreight, road & rail, and contract logistics services with 489 offices in 173 countries. In 2020, the Hellmann Group achieved a turnover of around €2.5bn.
