COVID-19 vaccine dose supply chain picking up, deliveries made in SWFL

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Some relief is on the way for people waiting for their shot at the COVID-19 vaccine.

Appointments in many places were delayed or just not offered because of winter weather around the country slowing the shipments of vaccine doses.

As the rest of the country thaws out, the supply chain is picking up too.

This week, Lee County got more than 7,000 doses. That’s enough to cover this week and last week’s appointments.

Collier county also received more second doses and Publix will open up for appointments Wednesday morning.

Officials are working to get first and second doses scheduled.

As the weather gets warmer, more shots will make their way to Florida.
