County to distribute 15K free at-home COVID-19 tests

LIHU‘E — Throughout the week, the county, in partnership with the state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office, will distribute about 15,000 free COVID-19 home-test kits at neighborhood centers.

“I sincerely thank our partners with the Department of Health for making this community distribution possible,” Mayor Derek Kawakami said in an announcement.

“This, along with the federal distribution of home-test kits, will help to ensure availability and access to testing above and beyond what is currently provided by our county operations and private-sector providers.”

Test kits will be distributed, with a limit of five tests per individual/household, on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Monday, Jan. 24: Kekaha Neighborhood Center from 9 a.m. to noon, Waimea Neighborhood Center from 1 to 4 p.m.;

• Tuesday, Jan. 25: Hanalei Neighborhood Center from 9 a.m. to noon, Kilauea Neighborhood Center from 1 to 4 p.m.;

• Wednesday, Jan. 26: Hanapepe Recreation Center from 9 a.m. to noon and Kalaheo Neighborhood Center from 1 to 4 p.m.;

• Thursday, Jan. 27: Anahola Clubhouse from 9 a.m. to noon and Kapa‘a Neighborhood Center from 1 to 4 p.m.;

• Friday, Jan. 28: Koloa Neighborhood Center from 9 a.m. to noon and Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center from 1 to 4 p.m.
