Conference on science of disaster mgmt | Visakhapatnam News

Visakhapatnam: A two-day national conference on ‘Science of Disaster Management’ concluded at Mrs AVN College on Sunday. Prof V Krishna Mohan, registrar of Andhra University attended the event as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mohan said, “Even though a number of natural disasters have hit the state in recent times, we have recovered owing to a quick response from Andhra Pradesh state disaster recovery management authority and other disaster management organisations at the central level.” The AU registrar also appreciated the college management for conducting a seminar on a pressing issue.
Prof K Niranjan, former registrar of AU, who was also attending the conference said that India is prone to natural disasters and therefore, “training people in disaster-prone areas is the need of the hour.” “Designing awareness programmes to educate people on managing such emergencies is very important,” Prof Niranjan said.
He also advised the college to offer a certificate course on disaster management. tnn
