Colombian superfood for the Middle East

Kuehne+Nagel has partnered with Colombian agricultural supplier Verdeex S.A. to deliver fresh avocados of the Hass variety to consumers in Dubai.

These Hass avocados grow in the department of Antioquia, by expert farmers’ hands, and are carefully transported by Kuehne+Nagel’s Reefer Logistics and KN FreshChain teams, who supervise and monitor the fruits 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to guarantee that they arrive in perfect condition at the consumers’ tables. To maintain the freshness and to extend the self-live, avocados are transported in cold chain containers, first via road, then via sea freight.

Colombia has been a historical producer of avocado. In 2019, exports of the Hass variety grew rapidly by almost 40%, according to the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics. Verdeex, based in Rionegro in the heart of the Antioquia cropping region, is one of the main suppliers of Colombian avocados.

Diether Bohn, General Manager of Kuehne+Nagel Andean Cluster comments: “We are proud to serve Verdeex by providing our expertise in international Reefer Logistics. At Kuehne+Nagel, our tailored solutions provide the exact level of service that our customers require. Our access to all major refrigerated transporters ensures that Verdeex’s avocado shipments arrive on time and in perfect condition.”

Yuli Castaño, General Manager of Verdeex S.A. adds: “In Kuehne+Nagel, we found a reliable logistics partner that provides us with high-quality cold chain transportation from the point of origin to the destination. It is also a company that cares about the environment and it is a philosophy that we at Verdeex treasure, since our products are grown in a sustainable way, respecting the health, safety and well-being of humans, the environment, and in accordance with animal well-being concerns.”
