CMHI poised to land contract for South China Sea floater upgrade work

China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) has emerged as a front runner in a bidding contest to overhaul a floating production, storage and offloading vessel to be redeployed for CNOOC Ltd’s oilfield complexes in the South China Sea.

CMHI’s facility in Shenzhen city in southern China’s Guangdong province has offered 98 million yuan ($14 million) in the tender launched by operator CNOOC Ltd for refurbishing the Nanhai Fenjin FPSO, lower than other bidders including Qingdao Beihai Shipyard, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding.
