CM Vijay Rupani orders to issue 8,000 appointment letters for government jobs

After a meeting with government officials from various departments, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has ordered them to issue appointment letters where the recruitment process is over. He has also asked officials to start the recruitment process for jobs already announced.

The Rupani government has been facing several agitations and receiving requests to complete a long-pending recruitment process. Recruitment for more than 38,000 positions was stalled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Aspirants have been making representations to finish it at the earliest while certain sections have threatened to resume agitation if it gets delayed further.

Following the crucial meeting with departmental heads, Rupani directed them to resume the recruitment process while observing all the Covid-19 safety precautions so that candidates do not suffer.

The appointment letters will be issued to candidates who successfully cleared GPSC, Gaun Seva Pasandagi Mandal, Panchayat Pasandgi Mandal, Police, General Administration Department, and Education department. A media statement claimed that over 20,000 youths of the state will get an opportunity to work in the government after the recruitment process is completed in the next 5 months.

Sources said the CM has also called for heavy police deployment in the capital Gandhinagar to prevent mass agitations from taking place.

Dinesh Bambhaniya, former PAAS convener and one of the leaders of Shikshit Berojkar Samiti, told the media, “Government on Saturday morning suddenly made an announcement to recruit youths after a closed-door meeting. They should also release members of Shikshit Berojgar Samiti who were detained. We strongly feel the announcement is just for sake of it. It is nothing but a hollow promise that will never get implemented.”
