Cloudleaf Receives a 2019 Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Supply Chain Award

SAN FRANCISCO–()–Cloudleaf, Inc., an emerging leader in digital supply chain solutions, providing continuous visibility from materials through to customer delivery, today received a 2019 Green Supply Chain Award by Supply & Demand Chain Executive (SDCE), the executive’s user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation. SDCE recognized Cloudleaf’s ability to drastically reduce waste by increasing supply chain visibility which is estimated to be just 20% for most companies. By providing continuous visibility Cloudleaf makes it possible for companies to improve processes, lower energy costs, and identify and significantly reduce causes of waste, which also contributes to achieving sustainability goals.

“We are honored to receive the 2019 Green Supply Chain Award and be recognized for our work in helping companies achieve sustainability goals across many different industries,” said Cloudleaf Chief Executive Officer Mahesh Veerina. “When it comes to supply chains, sustainability and profitability go hand in hand. It is very satisfying to see a customer lower operating costs by 30% and save $20M in energy — a cost they won’t need to keep on their books and a better environmental footprint.”

Supply chain waste includes the obvious aspects that land on the balance sheet like materials and energy. By identifying and eliminating waste along the supply chain, secondary waste from water usage and unnecessary carbon emissions is also reduced. For example, a Cloudleaf customer in biotech transports blood plasma around the world to help treat rare diseases. One cause for potential material loss is small temperature fluctuations anywhere along the supply chain which renders the precious plasma unusable. Within the first nine months of working with Cloudleaf, the company achieved 100% supply chain visibility, saving them $70 million dollars and thousands of liters of blood plasma.

“Every year the Green Supply Chain Award recipients demonstrate what is achievable in supply chain sustainability,” says John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “It is clear that while sustainability is not a new concept, there is always more we can accomplish.”

“We extend our congratulations to this year’s award recipients and their commitment to green initiatives,” adds Yuva. “The entries serve as best-in-class examples for other companies to model and create value for their supply chains.”

The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy and are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and supply chains. The awards also recognize providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals. This year’s 10th annual awards recognize small, mid-size and large enterprises that leveraged green practices and solutions to further drive sustainable improvements in their supply chain.

Though many companies are working to increase supply chain visibility, Cloudleaf is the only company that has developed a true continuous solution that is tailored to the different points along the way. The company currently works with high-value asset-based companies across pharmaceuticals, cold-chain food and beverage, and manufacturing.
