Chicago’s Cresco Labs expands its Sonoma County craft cannabis products outside California

As one way for California cannabis culture to cross state lines, Cresco Labs has launched a product line featuring Santa Rosa’s FloraCal Farms craft blend, the Chicago-based cannabis wholesaler announced April 13.

The Sonoma County blend offered as flower and for vaping among other products is now available in Illinois Sunnyside locations selling cannabis.

The Chicago company bought FloraCal Farms in 2018 with the idea of capitalizing on its unique genetics and popularity from the company reported to have generated $6.4 million in revenue the year before. The grower started by Karen and Drew Duval hand-harvest, trim and package in such a way to preserve the craft blend’s distinct characteristics Cresco Labs claims. The husband-and-wife team, which was unreached by email requests for comment, oversee the cultivation and commercial sales of the operation.

“We’re excited. FloraCal was only available in California before,” Cresco Labs spokesman Jason Erkes said.

The same year Cresco Labs snatched up FloraCal Farms as part of its concentrated western expansion, Illinois legalized adult, recreational cannabis use.
