CHAT gets new, larger warehouse for donation program in Chico

CHICO, Calif. – Chico Housing Action Team (CHAT) plans to use a new warehouse to store supplies before handing them out to people in need.

The almost 3,000 square foot warehouse is located on Nelson Street just off of East 11th Street.

CHAT will store basic need items in the warehouse until they hand them out to homeless people in need, including fire survivors.

“We found this facility which is just awesome,” said CHAT member Bob Trausch. “It is about two and a half times bigger than what we have which is going to allow us to grow our program number one, but number two it is going to allow us to bring in our food program which is actually been out of our barn every Saturday so this will be able to be housed in there.”

Trausch said he was using his own barn and two garages to store supplies and food.

He said he often had to turn down other donations like couches due to lack of space.

Now, with the new warehouse, they will be able to accept more donations due to the extra space.

Trausch said he plans to get stuff into the warehouse by the middle of next month.
