Central government gives statement on labor issue in supreme court

New Delhi: A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan has started hearing on the issue of migrant workers in the Supreme Court. While pleading on behalf of the government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that there were some incidents in some specific places which caused the workers to suffer. We are thankful that you took cognizance of this matter.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that the government also ran hundreds of trains for the workers. A budget for food and drink was also made available to them. On this, the top court said that the government has tried, but things are not reaching the needy laborers smoothly through the state governments. On this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that the lockdown was implemented for two reasons. First to break the chain of corona infection and second to make proper arrangements in hospitals. When the workers started migrating suddenly from the parts of the country in lakhs, they had to stop for two reasons.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that the first reason was to stop the infection from spreading from cities to villages by stopping migrants. The second reason was that migrants could not infect each other on the way. The government has run more than 3700 Shramik Express special trains so far. These trains will run as long as a single migrant is ready to go.
