CDA offers clarity for members on ADA’s FEMA distribution of PPE

CDA is aware that members have questions about ADA’s plans to begin distributing PPE from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Unfortunately, the ADA did not prioritize dentists in California as one of 18 states selected to receive the first round of distribution. At this time, the ADA has not broadly revealed which states will be receiving supplies or when California dentists may be eligible to request them.

While this news is unfortunate, CDA urges members to continue to ask their county health authorities for PPE. Be aware that CDA is currently working with counties to ensure they understand that locally-available supplies complement—and do not replace—the supply kit from The Dentists Supply Company. Dentists who have not yet ordered a state supply kit from TDSC.com may still obtain one while supplies last at TDSC.com/freePPE. Members can also continue to purchase authentic PPE through TDSC.com as inventory becomes available.

While TDSC distributes dental supplies to all 50 states, it was not provided the opportunity to partner with the ADA on distribution of its FEMA-obtained supplies.

CDA will continue to aggressively advocate on behalf of members to obtain additional PPE from the state of California. We know that the supply chain is extremely limited internationally, and members need additional PPE to resume care. Unfortunately, options at this time are still very limited.

As soon as we learn more about the ADA’s distribution strategy, we will inform members through email and on cda.org.
