CBD wholesaler gets wrongfully seized hemp back from NYPD

The Brooklyn CBD wholesaler whose 106-pound shipment of perfectly legal hemp was wrongfully seized by the NYPD last month will have a green Christmas, as the stash was released on Monday.

“We got everything back,” said Oren Levy, the proprietor of Green Angel CBD, whose brother, Ronen, picked up the haul from the NYPD’s Queens narcotics lock-up on Monday. “They actually sealed it normally. I was surprised.”

According to Levy, a “gung-ho” FedEx driver transporting the hemp took it upon himself to re-route the shipment to East New York’s 75th Precinct last month, where cops incorrectly determined it was marijuana and confiscated it.

The hemp in Levy’s shipment was certified to contain .14 percent THC — tetrahydrocannabinol, the chemical that produces marijuana’s high — well below the federal legal limit of .3 percent.

In a since-deleted tweet, the precinct even bragged about the interception — but the case went up in smoke and authorities were forced to drop charges earlier this month after the mix-up became undeniable.

Even though the hemp has been returned, it will have to be tested to see if it’s still up to snuff.

“It’s completely dried up, that’s for sure,” said Levy. “I’ll have to send it out to labs to get it checked for bacteria, mold, all that stuff.”

Also included in the package returned to Levy on Monday was a trove of paperwork spelling out that everything about the shipment was kosher — paperwork that cops previously claimed wasn’t in the shipment, according to Levy.

The documents could prove damning in the company’s $10 million suit against the city.

“I hope the mayor’s office will take disciplinary actions on those who misled the [district attorney],” said Levy, stressing that he holds no grudge against the NYPD at large. “A few bad apples ruined the bunch and made the NYPD look bad.

“I hope the NYPD gets more training on CBD,” added Levy. “I don’t want this happening to anybody else.”
