Cargo ship with Ukrainian crew arrested for carrying undeclared arms – Maritime Bulletin

General cargo ship EOLIKA arrived at Dakar, Senegal, from La Spezia Italy via Las Palmas on Dec 19, reportedly for the purpose of bunkering. Port authorities found detainable deficiencies, the ship was detained. Later, in January, Customs found cargo documents to be suspicious, the ship was searched during Jan 13-14, and in 3 containers ammunition was found, understood undeclared or wrongly declared. The ship and 4 crew (other sources report all crew are arrested) including Captain, all of them of Ukrainian nationality, were arrested, investigation under way.
