Fire has destroyed a Gold Coast surfboard factory, sending thick black smoke billowing across neighbouring suburbs.
Nine firefighting crews, scientific officers and paramedics were called to the blaze in Burleigh Waters about 9am today.
Local businesses were evacuated as police cordoned off the streets around Rudman Parade as flames leapt above the industrial unit.
Residents in surrounding suburbs were warned to close their windows.
Crews brought the fire under control at 10.45am leaving a twisted pile of metal.
Forensic officers will investigate the cause of the fire, a Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesman told AAP.
No injuries were reported.
