Blast in S.Korea’s leather factory claims 2 lives, hurts 8

Yonhap news agency recited on Friday that an explosive fire broke out in a South Korean leather factory resulted in eight injured and more than 2 others dead.

The blaze, which was probably caused by an unidentified explosion, occurred in the leather plant in Yangju, 30 km north of the capital Seoul, at nearly 11:25 a.m. local time.

Among the fatalaties, eight were carried to the nearest hospital to receive treatment over their severe injuries, while two others were immediately confirmed dead.

It is thought that an explosion in the boiler room of the leather factory was what caused the fire which was put out about 25 minutes later.
