Biggest Fireworks Show in Indian Lake history set for July 4th (Audio included)

The annual Indian Lake Fireworks will be held on Saturday, July 4th, 2020 at 10 pm.

The fireworks will be held on Becker Homes’ property along the south bank of Indian Lake near Russells Point.

The annual car show, little miss Indian Lake, and Indian Lake’s Got Talent will be rescheduled for 2021.

Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce President Amber Fagan, David Durnell, and Dustin Wickersham were the driving force in organizing the event.

RV Wholesalers donated $25,000 for the event and fireworks.

The fireworks show will be the largest show in history for Indian Lake, with the fireworks display coming to $45,000. Along with other expenses the event will cost $50,000 in total.

The show is set to run for 25 minutes, which is longer than the usual 20 minute show that has been held.

Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce President Amber Fagan comments on the upcoming event.

The show was put together in a great community effort with many donations involved. Many local bars and restaurants donated for the event.

Dan Reichert from Reichert Excavating worked on the plot of land from which the show can be viewed, and Jim Biery from JB Vegetation mowed the plot multiple times in preparation for the event.

Sheriff Randall J. Dodds assisted in filing out paper work so that the event could continue.

Dodds, alongside Chief Rick Core and Chief Joe Freyhof planned the event traffic strategy and allocated staff to have proper enforcement during and after the event.

Vendors and food trucks will be in the area to cater to visitors.

Police Chief Rick Core discusses the logistics for the event.

An exclusion zone will be set for the falling debris from the fireworks. No one is allowed to park or walk around State Route 366 between Township Road 239 and Paradise Island near Indian Head Restaurant. The road will be closed at 9 pm to allow for proper set up of the zone. A portion of the lake across from the launch site will be marked off by buoys and will be patrolled to prevent boats from entering the zone for safety reasons.

Visitors are asked to maintain social distancing as well as be mindful of trash. As the event is planned to be attended by many, and the location has changed from the usual viewing spot, trash cans and bins could be limited or filled very quickly.

Fireworks in the corporation limit are not allowed during the event to prevent damage and disruptions to local homeowners’ properties.

Traffic

Following the fireworks traffic will be maintained as follows:

  • East and westbound stops signs on Main Street (SR366) in Russells Point will be covered to allow a free flow of traffic. The 25 MPH speed limit should still be observed.

  • The following access points from U.S. 33 to Main Street will be closed only as long as necessary to quickly move both incoming and outgoing traffic at the conclusion of the fireworks:

    • Sunnyside Avenue (Donut Shop)

    • Clermont Street (Family Dollar)

    • State Route 708 north of US 33 (Huntington Bank)

  • Lincoln Boulevard (The Wedge) – the Traffic Lights along U.S. 33 at the State Route 708 and Township Road 239 intersections will be set to flash yellow east and westbound and red to north and southbound traffic.

  • Drivers can gain access to U.S. 33 from roadways west of Russells Point near Lakeview and east of Russells Point from County Road 94 towards Huntsville.
Intersections through Russells Point will be closed due to the fact they can only handle 1-2 vehicles before obstructing traffic flow.
