The Big Thrill Factory is closing its Minnetonka location for good amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minnesota-based entertainment venue that offers things like go-karts, laser tag, arcade games, mini-golf and trampolines announced the closure on Aug. 19. The Big Thrill Factory in Oakdale remains open.
“Our Minnetonka location is closed. We really appreciate being able to create fun memories for so many people in Minnetonka and the surrounding communities. The good news is the FUN continues at our Oakdale location (all Minnetonka play cards are valid at this location),” Big Thrill Factory wrote on Facebook.
Big Thrill Factory explained its decision to close the Minnetonka location, saying sales were primarily driven by events, while sales at the Oakdale location were a “good mix of both.”
“With COVID, there is no clear sign to when society will be ready to gather again for group events and as such we are unable to create a business model that works for this location,” the company said in a comment on its Facebook post.
Big Thrill Factory in Minnetonka joins a growing list of businesses, including restaurants, that have closed permanently due to the coronavirus pandemic.
