Backpack, supply distribution set for students | Community

Backpacks and school supplies will provide students with the necessary tools to embark on a new school year as a local bank plans a distribution event next week.

According to a recent posting from First Bank & Trust, their team members and customers collected enough school supplies to fill more than 350 backpacks.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, backpacks will be available for pickup at The First Bank & Trust locations at Duncan Main Street and Plato lobbies. Backpacks will remain available during lobby hours, which are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Duncan Main Street branch and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the Plato Branch until Friday, Aug. 14, or until supplies last.

Each one of the branches in Ardmore, Healdton, Waurika, Edmond and Norman will participate in the backpack distribution as well.

Katie Kinsey, HR Analyst for First Bank & Trust said: “There are no requirements. No account or banking relationship is needed to be eligible to receive a backpack.”

All students are welcome to come by and grab a backpack. Supplies are limited and are on a first come, first serve basis.

“We encourage people to bring their children so they can pick out their favorite backpack,” Kinsley said.

First Bank and Trust is located at 1005 W Main St. in Duncan.
