Attempt to smuggle in P15-M luxury items foiled – The Manila Times

The Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has intercepted branded items that were being passed on as personal effects, the Bureau of Customs said on Tuesday. The P15-million shipment had been declared as shampoo, soap, towels, toiletries, canned goods and milk chocolates, among others, packed in 17 cartons sent from Milano, Italy, through RRG Freight Service Forwarder in Paircargo Warehouse at the NAIA. it was found out that the shipment contained high-end brands such as Chanel, Hermes, Christian Louboutin, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Balenciaga bags, shoes, wallets and earrings. According to Port of NAIA district collector Carmelita Talusan, the seized items are subject to seizure and forfeiture proceedings for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
