At least five killed in explosion at Sivakasi fireworks factory

At least fiver are feared dead in an explosion at at a fireworks factory at Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

It is unsure what led to the mishap but at least ten are feared injured. It is understood that over a hundred persons are employed at the unit.

The incident occurred at 8.45 am at the RKVM fireworks factory at Kalathur, Vadugapatti. At least three fatalities were confirmed on the spot while two others were reported dead at a government hospital at Sivakasi.

Twenty units of the Fire Force are on site as the rescue operations are ongoing.
