There was an emergency Thursday in Ararat Province of Armenia.
Residents of several villages in the province blocked the main road at the Khor Virap intersection on the Yerevan-Yeraskhavan motorway—and in protest regarding the procurement of grapes, shamshyan.com reported.
The traffic was closed on both sides.
The protesters were demanding a meeting with the representatives of the government and the Ararat provincial hall.
Later, the governor of Ararat, Garik Sargsyan, and the head of the Ararat provincial department of the Police, Kamo Tsutsulyan, came to meet with these protesters.
They came to an agreement with the villagers to meet on the same day at the provincial hale, where the directors of the grape procurement companies would also be, and they would discuss the issue.
But the villagers were saying that they only believe in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. And since the aforesaid provincial governor was the authorized representative of the PM, the protesters reopened the road.
