Angola: Governor of Cuanza Sul Wants Rigour in Public Procurement

Sumbe — The Provincial Governor of Cuanza Sul, Job Capapinha, Thursday called on public managers for rigour and greater attention to compliance with public procurement rules.

According to the provincial governor, who was speaking at the opening of the provincial meeting on public procurement, the transparency and misunderstanding between the political figure and that of the technicians should be sufficiently clarified at the time of granting public procurement.

He stressed that the public manager must be accountable to the people and his practices must be as transparent as possible.

The meeting will evaluate for two days, among other subjects, “the diplomas to support public procurement”, “the changes to the Public Procurement Law” and “the functionality of the Public Procurement Portal”.

The objectives also include raising the levels of technical and professional competence and standardising the constituent parts of managers’ public procurement procedures, preparing the elements necessary for the proper execution of public expenditure and making the execution of the tasks inherent in public procurement more dynamic.
