The United States, through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service Food for Progress Program, supports Georgia in strengthening its dairy and beef sectors and food safety systems.  Today Ambassador Kelly Degnan visited a milk processing factory owned by Kakha Manjavidze in Village Siktarva, Terjola municipality, and observed how USDA assistance helped Kakha improve his dairy processing operations.  He can produce safer products by implementing the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control point management system with USDA’s technical assistance.  Machinery purchased through USDA-funded matching grants and new technologies will help Kakha to make his business more compatible with international standards and more successful in international markets.
