Accenture to acquire supply chain management software and services firm Blue Horseshoe

Accenture announced it will acquire supply chain management software and services firm Blue Horseshoe.

Blue Horseshoe has both IP and subject matter expertise in distribution and fulfillment, as well as industries including food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, retail distribution, and transportation and logistics.

The company has 349 employees, according to Accenture’s announcement, and will join Accenture’s Supply Chain & Operations group.

Blue Horseshoe works with Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, Oracle NetSuite and Manhattan supply chain applications. The company sold Microsoft its IP for Dynamics AX warehouse and transportation management in 2013, known as WAX and TRAX, which eventually became the basis for many core capabilities in Microsoft’s standard capabilities in AX. Microsoft also licensed Blue Horseshoe’s advanced warehousing capabilities for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management in 2019.

“For two decades, we’ve worked with clients to build connectedness, efficiency and automation across their enterprise and supply chain operations,” state Chris Cason, CEO of Blue Horseshoe. “As part of Accenture, we will bring increased scale and combined expertise to help clients put in place next generation supply chain and fulfillment strategies that meet customer expectations and support business growth.”
