Wheat procurement season to last till May 31 | India News

BATHINDA: The Union government has announced to keep the wheat procurement season in this Rabi season till May 31 in Punjab. 125 lakh MT wheat was procured in Punjab till Thursday evening though the initially the target was of 135 lakh MT wheat coming in the mandis.
A spokesperson of the Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Department said that the government has announced the season of government procurement of wheat in the state of Punjab has been fixed from April 15 to May 31 during Rabi season 2020-21.
The spokesperson also stated that through the portal of Punjab Mandi Board this information was being disseminated to artiyas(commission agents) and farmers on their registered mobile numbers besides through whatsapp groups formed by field staff so that all farmers should bring their produce into mandis by that time and no farmer is left out.
The spokesperson stated those mandis which have not seen any wheat arrival during the last some days are under process to be closed down gradually.
