Plan for 500 apartments on former Tallaght cigarette factory gets fast-tracked | Ireland

A developer has submitted plans to build more than 500 apartments at the site of a former cigarette factory in south Dublin.

Greenleaf Homes is seeking permission for 502 flats with a crèche at the former Gallaher’s cigarette factory at the junction of Airton Road and Greenhills Road in Tallaght.

The Dublin-based developer submitted its plans directly to An Bord Pleanála under the fast-track planning system. As part of this scheme developers which are looking to build 100 or more homes are able to bypass the local planning process.

If granted permission, it would be one of the single largest apartment projects near Dublin city centre.

The plot was once the site of a factory which was part of the Gallaher Group, a Derry-based firm
