Redwire Corp. will provide navigation components and roll-out solar array technology for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test mission.
The DART mission is a test of “technologies for preventing an impact of Earth by a hazardous asteroid,” according to NASA’s website. It will be “the first demonstration of the kinetic impactor technique to change the motion of an asteroid in space.”
Redwire said it delivered two roll-out solar arrays through a contract with Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.
Redwire shares surged after the announcement about NASA, peaking at $12.15, but were recently down 4% to $10.08.
Last week, the company delayed its earnings report. It said that on Nov. 5, “management was notified by an employee of potential accounting issues with a business subunit” and said the board’s audit committee began an investigation. Redwire said it voluntarily reported the matter to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In a securities filing Monday, Redwire said “to date, the company has not identified any material misstatements or restatements of its previously filed financial statements” and said it is working to file its Form 10-Q “as expeditiously as possible.”
