8 hurt in cracker factory blast in Saharanpur | Meerut News

Muzaffarnagar: A fire broke out in a firecracker factory in Saharanpur’s Biharigarh area on Saturday afternoon, leaving eight workers injured. The accident took place, a week after a woman was killed in a blast at another firecracker factory in Shamli.
Villagers said there was a loud explosion at the cracker factory at Satpura village before the fire broke out. The workers suffered varying degrees of burns. It is suspected that the fire was caused by a short circuit.
After receiving information about the fire, area police and emergency services rushed to the spot. The police admitted all the injured people to the district hospital.
The injured were identified as Shakti, 20,
Ankit, 17, Devendra, 18, Salinger 20, Indresh 30, Jeetu, 25, Raj 22, and Suleman, 32. The condition of two of them is said to be critical, police said.
On the information of the villagers, fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire.
Akash Tomar, SSP, said, “The incident happened due to a short circuit in which eight people received burn injuries. Further probe into the matter is on.”
In another incident, a 58-year-old mentally challenged man, Jeet Singh, who was lighting a bonfire in his hut, died after the hut caught fire in the Mirzapur area of Saharanpur.
