Two factory workers committed suicide in separate incidents by hanging themselves from ceiling fans at their residences in Daresi yesterday.
In the first incident, 24-year-old Sumit Kumar committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan. He locked the door from inside and then committed suicide.
Keshav, the deceased’s brother, said his brother was working at a yarn mill.
“Yesterday, the deceased was alone at home and I went to the factory. Late in the evening when I returned home, I found my brother hanging from the ceiling fan. When I broke open the door, he was already dead, “ he said.
Keshav said his brother was suffering from tension due to which he might had taken the extreme step.
In another case, a 28-year-old youth, Jatinder Singh, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his residence on Wednesday evening.
The police said Jatinder, who was also a factory worker, was alone at home on Thursday as his family members had gone to Kapurthala to attend a wedding.
Yesterday, neighbours noticed his body hanging from the ceiling fan, following which they informed the police and his family members in Kapurthala.
In both cases, families of the deceased reportedly told the police that the victims were quite obsessed with online gaming.
For the past few weeks both had been spending much time on the online gaming, the families said.
They were not talking much with their family members, the police was informed.
No suicide note was recovered from either of the spots, the police said.
Suspecting no foul play, inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code were initiated by the police in both the cases.
