YM Centennial is the fourth of its ten 2,800 TEU full container vessels constructed by CSBC. To achieve the goal of emission reduction and the benefit of operating cost saving, the newbuilding is designed with scrubber system and energy-saving Sea Sword Bow technology. Moreover, the newly-built vessel is equipped with integrated computer-based system for controlling and monitoring the automated installations of periodically unattended machinery spaces. Its monitoring devices also allow reduced scope of tail shaft survey. Both technologies enable higher efficiency at sea. In addition to being certified with “Smartship H, Et, I” notations by CR Classification Society, YM Centennial will be the first vessel to receive DNV GL SmartShip notations including “SmartShip OE (Operating Enhancement) “ and “PE (Performance Enhancement)” in Taiwan.

With the progress of the negotiations under RCEP framework as well as the tendency of global supply chains shifting toward Southeast Asia, ASEAN has surpassed EU and the US and become the largest trade partner of China in recent years. This means it is expected to make steady growth in import & export trade of Southeast Asia.

In respond to the prosperity seen in the Southeast Asia market, this series of newbuildings will become the main force for Yang Ming to strengthen its Intra-Asia services. With the delivery of these new ships, Yang Ming will be able to reduce the average age of its global fleet, offering better service quality and competitiveness with energy/cost-saving advantages.

YM Centennial will be deployed to Yang Ming’s Taiwan-Philippines direct service (TPE service) on September 8th and provide efficient delivery service between Kaohsiung and Manila.
