WV MetroNews Morgantown pharmacist sentenced for drug distribution scheme

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Morgantown pharmacist has been sentenced to a decade in prison after distributing thousands of grams of oxycodone.

Scott Tingler, 41, is serving for one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances outside of the bounds of professional medical practice and one count of a false tax return.

Tingler admitted to conspiring with others to distribute more than 7,400 grams of oxycodone and filing a false tax return in April 2015.

Tingler will have to pay the IRS and former employees more than $500,000 in restitution. He also agreed to relinquish his pharmacy license and not seek reinstatement or similar employment.
