Writ seeks judicial probe into procurement of books for Bangabandhu Corner filed

Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the writ, referring different newspaper reports on the alleged corruption against the two publication houses

A Supreme Court lawyer on Monday filed a writ with the High Court, pleading for its direction in a judicial or independent probe into the allegations of fraud and irregularity in purchasing books for Bangabandhu Corner in primary schools across the country.

Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the writ, referring different newspaper reports on the alleged corruption against the two publication houses.

People concerned including the secretary of the Liberation War Affairs Ministry, secretary of Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, director general of Directorate of Primary and Mass Education, authorities of Journey Multimedia, and Swadhika Publishers, were made respondents to the writ.

The petitioner, a former prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, said the High Court division bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq might hear the plea.
