Pella Corp., one of the largest residential window and door manufacturers in the United States, is adding a new factory in Ohio.

The Pella, Iowa-based company recently announced that it has picked Troy, Ohio, as the location for a new, 324,000-square-foot production facility that will make the company’s vinyl windows and doors. The factory will fill an existing facility there.

Pella said the new plant will service Eastern U.S. customers and boost the company’s capabilities to meet demand. The factory is expected to be fully operational by 2025 and create 428 jobs.

In mid-July, Pella’s Sioux Center plant manager told a local radio station that the factory has been making face shields for medical personnel since April to help the personal protective equipment supply chain effort. Pella’s Danny Van Zanten said the company’s 3D printing and laser cutting capabilities were put to use to print brackets and cut shield portions of face shields. He said the company’s Pella factory initiated the effort with designing and producing shields for the local area, and the Sioux Center plant followed suit.

Pella Corp. is consistently ranked as one of the five largest residential window and door manufacturers in the U.S., with estimated annual revenues of more than $1 billion. Founded in 1925, Pella makes wood, fiberglass, and vinyl windows, along with doors and door and window technology. The company has more than 7,000 employees, 16 production locations, and more than 200 showrooms across the U.S.
