What Are the Shortages in the Supply Chain?

It’s not just chips. In addition to the shortages of semiconductors in the automotive industry, chip shortages will continue to affect 5D, pharmaceuticals, and batteries through most of 2022, according to the report Tech, Media, & Telecom (TMT) Predictions 2022.

Shortages will continue to hit smartphones and gaming consoles. Consumers will see rising prices and a general lack of widespread availability. Apple has already cut iPhone production by 10%. A stunning 94% of Fortune 1000 companies have been affected by disruptions, according to Accenture.

Ultimately, the chip shortage will be solved by large investments in chip manufacturing from Western governments. These investments will include exploration, mining, and the processing of critical minerals to diversify supply.
