West Shore Community College to host supply chain seminar

SCOTTVILLE — What is a supply chain and why is it broken? These questions are to be addressed at Out of Stock: Supply Chains 101, a panel discussion taking place this month.

The discussion is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 24 via Zoom, and is part of the West Shore Community College Humankind cultural arts and lecture series.

Jason Brand and Anthony D’Ambrosio, executives at the international firm Supply Chain Solutions, will explain how supply chains work on large and small levels.

“If you’ve been curious to understand what is going on with supply chain issues, these gentlemen are the experts,” said Dr. Matt Sanderson, chair of the humankind planning team, in a press release. “They will define the supply chain and explain the major components involved in it, as well as discuss recent problems and the role of the pandemic in those problems. This will be a very informative session for anyone who wants to understand more about this issue.”

Brand, a business development manager at Supply Chain Solutions, said he hoped the talk would convey the opportunities for innovation, despite what has been a challenging decade for U.S. businesses.

“The low-hanging fruit in our sector has never been so ripe, and we need fresh minds to come join us and rethink the world of international logistics and help change the way the world does business,” Brand said in the release.

The event is free and open to all. Join the Zoom discussion using the link bit.ly/humankindwinter2022. More information can be found online at westshore.edu or by emailing [email protected].
