West Norfolk: Fire crews tackle blaze in Walpole Cross Keys

Thousands of pallets which were ablaze has caused the A17 in west Norfolk to close.

The call came in at around 2.53pm this afternoon to reports of an open fire off the A17, near to Walpole Cross Keys.

The incident has caused the A17 to remain closed between Pullover roundabout and Sutton Bridge.

This impacted travel in the area and caused significant delays.

Appliances from Terrington St Clement, King’s Lynn, Fakenham, Sandringham, Outwell, Hingham, Heacham and crews from Suffolk were in attendance.

Norfolk police were also at the scene. 


The A17 has been closed due to thousands of pallets which were ablaze.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and people living nearby are being urged to keep their doors and windows shut.
