Wellington Chocolate Factory beats Whittaker’s to oat milk chocolate, but you probably can’t get any

Wellington Chocolate Factory has released its first oat milk chocolate, beating Whittaker’s to launch – but you’ll have to get in quick. Really quick.

Dairy-avoiding chocolate lovers cheered when, last month, a Google ad appeared for a Whittaker’s Oat Milk block on sale at New World, but the link to the product didn’t work and the ad was swiftly removed.

A spokesperson for the Porirua-based company said Whittaker’s had nothing to announce.

That product has still not materialised, but it turns out Whittaker’s was in a race with Wellington Chocolate Factory (WCF) – one its central city rival has now won.

However, there aren’t many Oat Milk Bars to go around.

WCF has released just 420 bars, which are available only online and at WCF’s store in Eva St.

The company said the Oat Milk Bar had been “months in the making”. It used New Zealand oats and ethically-sourced cocoa beans from Vanuatu.
