Watt: Supply chain issues could affect Fourth of July fireworks

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The Fourth of July parade is scheduled in Juneau, but getting fireworks may be an issue.

That’s according to City and Borough of Juneau Manager Rorie Watt.

Watt says that supply chain issues could affect delivery of fireworks in time for the national holiday.

“Fireworks, I think, might be subject to a supply chain problem,” Watt said. “I don’t know that the fireworks are going to arrive on time. So we are closely monitoring that situation. We’re going to be working with the festival committee to figure out what to do, if the fireworks don’t show up on time.”

Watt was asked about personal-use fireworks, and he said there was no change on that.

“It’s the good neighbor policy, please,” Watt said. “I know people some people love fireworks, and they are fun, but not everybody loves fireworks. And not every pet loves fireworks, so please, if you’re in the camp of liking fireworks, it’s the good neighbor policy. Please try to be civil and courteous to your neighbors.”
