WATCH: Inside Kunos Shower Factory ravished by fire

THIS is what a South Cumbria shower factory looked like after a fire engulfed the building.

Ten fire engines were called out to a major industrial fire at the Kunos Shower Poducts factory in Elmsfield park, Holme for more than seven hours on Friday morning.

Crews from Barrow, Kendal, Milnthorpe and Windermere were joined by five engines from Lancashire Fire & Rescue along with support from NWAS and Cumbria Police at 9.23am.

The emergency vehicles attended the Kunos Shower Poducts factory, which involved a fire which had spread from a compressor room to a mezzanine floor.

On duty fire officer, Jon Griffiths, said the situation could have been ‘very dangerous’.

“The fire started in the compressor after a spark ignited some of the dust which then spread into the mezzanine,” he said.

“Crews from south of the county attended to stop the fire from spreading any further.

“There was people in the building and they were evacuated once the fire alarm sounded.

“There were no injuries.

“Because it is a manufacturing factory, it had the potential to spread very rapidly and could have been very dangerous.”

Crews were in attendance for approximately seven hours and fifteen minutes.
