ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX) – For 11 straight weeks, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis has passed out food and supplies to families in need.
“I’ve never been as proud of St. Louis as I am right now,” James Clark, Vice President of Public Safety, told KMOX’s Carol Daniel at Saturday’s giveaway.

Clark tells KMOX that former gang members and drug dealers have been standing beside CEOs to help hand out essential items to people economically impacted by the pandemic. “We’ve to capture this and we’ve got to sustain it. We’ve got to get over our collective addition to friction and we’ve got to make peace popular. Somewhere peace became unpopular. We’ve got to bring peace back and it’s through these kinds of episodes and what we see going on with the peaceful protests.”

Thanks to the generosity of roughly 50 community partners — corporations, agencies and volunteers — the Urban League says it’s been able to distribute $1.5 million in groceries and supplies to some 35,000 families in the area.
