Hyderabad: Responding to the call given by TRS, ministers and party leaders on Wednesday blocked national highways (NHs) leading to Bengaluru, Nagpur, Vijayawada and Mumbai. TRS has rolled out a full-fledged protest plan in a bid to put pressure on the Centre to procure paddy in the current rabi season from farmers.
Minister A Indrakaran Reddy participated in a dharna on the Hyderabad-Nagpur highway at Kadthal village in Nirmal. He criticised the Centre on a lack of paddy procurement policy and said TRS would continue its fight until the Union government purchases paddy. The minister said BJP leaders and the Union ministers were misleading the farmers on the issue.
Minister V Srinivas Goud participated in the blockade of Bengaluru NH at Bhoothpur village with thousands of party workers and MLAs Ala Venkateshwara Reddy, Jaipal Yadav and Anjaiah Yadav for several hours. Minister Jagadish Reddy participated in the rasta roko and dharna on NH in Nalgonda district.
TRS MPs continued their protest in Lok Sabha demanding the Centre procure paddy in Yasangi season. The MPs served an adjournment motion and protested over the Union government not coming forward to discuss the issue in Parliament.
