Tod’s T Factory collaborates with Japanese label Mame Kurogouchi

Tod’s T Factory project invites emerging designers to collaborate with Italian luxury brand Tod’s via limited or capsule collaborations. Now into its’ third installation, the latest talent to join its fold — after Alessandro Dell’Acqua (2018) and Alber Elbaz (2019) — is none other than Japanese womenswear designer Maiko Kurogouchi. Known for being the face behind eponymous Mame Kurogouchi, her pieces shine through a design philosophy of making daily life easier and more beautiful, for herself and her customers.

The T Factory and Mame Kurogouchi capsule collection features a selection of dresses, outerwear, shoes and bags that ideally fit into a holdall with everything you need for a week’s or a day’s worth of travel, whether its work or pleasure.

The colour palette is simple — think everything in black, navy and tan, based on the concept of modularity, in this case, building up a basic wardrobe with elegant basics.

But what’s really special about this collaboration is the attention to details and exquisite craftsmanship, from the leather tape used for bonding, to the leather embroidery that echoes the traditional kogin zashi quilting, from silks to supple leathers.

In a nutshell, the perfect marriage between Italian craftsmanship and Japanese artistry.

The collection is now available online.
