Kiwis weren’t able to pick up Easter treats in time for the holiday due to the level 4 lockdown.

The Warehouse is clearing out the last of its Easter chocolate for the grand price of 1 cent each.

But you’ll be lucky to snag some, as most stores sold out within a day of the goodies going on sale.

Kiwis were unable to pick up their usual stash of treats due to Easter occurring during the level 4 lockdown, which meant the retailer was stuck with thousands of eggs long after the bunny’s visit.

The Warehouse website shows that it’s taken drastic measures to get rid of its stock, with all remaining Easter-themed treat up for grabs for the miniscule price.

The bargain eggs are only available in store, the website says.

One eagle-eyed bargain hunter on the Cheapies website had spotted the deal on Monday.

“Just got back from Albany where people were going crazy,” they wrote.

Another user said they’d had success at the Birkenhead and Milford stores: “A trolley load and under a dollar lol.”

But others reported their stores had already been cleared out.

“Damn, nothing in Wellington, 7c the other day but all gone,” wrote one user.

Another said: “I was just at Sylvia Park and there was nothing left.”

A spokesman for The Warehouse said before stores had closed for lockdown, staff had been allowed to take home Easter eggs for themselves and their families.

They had also donated thousands of eggs to Women’s Refuge and Kiwi Harvest to reach families in need.

“When our stores reopened our Easter egg stock went into clearance and on Monday some of our stores had chocolate eggs available for 1 cent,” he said.

“There was a real sense of excitement when word got around yesterday morning. Our chocolate eggs have almost sold out everywhere with lots of people taking advantage of the great offer.”
