Next to the railway in North London is the largest biscuit factory in Europe, producing 27 million biscuits every day – and they have tube roundels inside the factory.
The McVities factory has been here in various incarnations for over a century, and is home to the UK’s production of digestive biccies, amongst others. As the boxes of biscuits come off the factory floor, automated robots move them around stacking them in the correct place for the next step in their road to being dunked in your cup of tea.
What’s tube-worthy is that their automatic packing centre, nicknamed Jenga for obvious reasons, has each conveyor belt named after a tube station. There’s a Welcome to Jenga roundel, and then a number of stations – St Pancras, Paddington, Charing Cross and Waterloo.
It’s a small touch, but a very human one in a land of robotic biscuit makers.
