Position Summary

The Brewmaster is responsible for all aspects of brewery production and quality control such as raw material handling, milling process, wort production, yeast management and handling, beer production, and the packaging process.

The Brewmaster is also a member of the senior management team and meets weekly with senior management to discuss and contribute to company strategy, initiatives, and daily operations.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Brewery inventory control
  • Manage and plan brew schedule, document and regularly communicate schedule to taproom, sales, and marketing departments.
  • Purchasing and procurement of all raw materials and packaging supplies.
  • Author new and edit existing SOPs.
  • Manage brewing logs and beer record keeping files.
  • Recipe development
  • Ensure brewery remains clean and organized at all times.
  • Maintain and keep the brewing facility in working order.
  • Ensure all raw materials and critical control points meet QC standards.
  • Oversee QC program

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical field required and/or a formal brewing education from an accredited brewing program or professional brewing experience.
  • 10 years of applicable brewing experience
  • Possess and maintain proficient understanding of Laboratory Operations / Quality Assurance / Sensory Trained to measure cell health, pitch rates, ABV analysis, BU analysis, taste and color analysis.
  • Knowledge of brewing and packaging equipment as well as steam, chilled water, and compressed gas utilities.
  • Capable of performing all brew house, cellar, CIP, QC, and packaging duties.
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, and resourceful.
  • Strong judgment, professional maturity, and impeccable integrity.
  • Effective time management
